THE PHYSIC LAB

"A student club dedicated to making physics fun and accessible for younger underserved learners"

I founded The Physic Lab Club not to create another academic club for my own research needs, but to address a problem I experienced with the help of many friends: physics is seen as a difficult and dull subject simply because it is taught poorly.

As a child, I was always curious about how the world works. I wanted to know why bicycles stay balanced, why objects fall faster, and why balls bounce back when they hit the ground. However, as I continued my studies, I noticed that many students gradually lost interest in science. Their lessons were filled with formulas and laws. Physics shifted from being about discovery to becoming a source of fear. I knew I wanted to change that.

I started The Physic Lab Club to make physics an intuitive and engaging experience, especially for students in rural areas with limited learning opportunities. Along with 53 members, we built the website thephysiclab.io.vn with physics simulations written in JavaScript. This turned concepts like mechanics, motion, force, and inertia into interactive games. Students can drag, drop, and change variables to discover the rules themselves instead of just memorizing them.

I spent a month directly participating and observing sports such as Archery, Soccer, Basketball, Golf, Billiards and Bowling to understand the movement characteristics of each sport although some have been my favorite before. I recorded the impact force, movement trajectory, body stability, muscle-bone-joint coordination and the precision requirements in operation. At the same time, I interviewed coaches and recorded slow-motion videos to analyze angles, speeds and forces. This process helped me build an experimental data base for STEM research on sports mechanics.

After more than a year, the project has attracted over 1,200 visits from students, organized 35 free live lessons, collaborated with 12 remote schools, and created the "Physics through Play" method. This approach involves learning through simulations and simple experiments with inexpensive materials. For me, The Physic Lab is not just about teaching physics; it is about igniting the spirit of discovery in every child. That is the true goal of science education.

LAM SON CHESS CLUB

I became the President of Lam Son Chess Club at the start of 2024. My goal was to bring chess to poor rural areas of Thanh Hoa. Under my leadership, the Club launched the "Sharing Chess" program. We visit two poor rural communes every quarter to teach over 120 children for free. I chose Sunday to ride about 30 km by motorbike with the Coaching Board. We brought a chess board, a chess clock, and an instruction book. There, I realized that the children in the countryside have a lot of ambition; they just lack the right environment and guidance. After class, I spent time talking to them. I taught them how to think about their moves, how to accept defeat, and how to play well with teammates.

I also organized an internal tournament called "Reaching Lam Son," where nearly 50 members participated to improve their chess skills and create a regular playing environment. My most significant lesson is that leadership is not just about talking. It's about setting an example, sharing techniques, and promoting the culture of intellectual games. When children in the countryside see that they can play chess, it motivates me to keep contributing.

RURAL STEM WORKSHOP

"Ha Giang, Vietnam"

I arrived in Ha Giang as part of the Rural STEM Workshops program, thinking I would simply "bring knowledge to the mountains". However, after teaching over 50 students how to make basic electrical circuits, light sensors with Arduino, and automatic lights, I realized that STEM is not just a complex theory. It is a tool that enables them to create things they have never had before. I also learned how to design lessons that make technical knowledge easier to understand, using inexpensive and readily available materials. The most valuable experience I gained was not from a successful teaching session, but from realizing that education truly matters when it reaches the places where it is most needed.

COMMUNITY THEATER FOR CHILDREN

"Thai Binh, Vietnam"

I joined Community Theater for Children in Thai Binh as a volunteer performer and organizer of a mobile theater for rural kids. We presented small plays about friendship, honesty, and dreams at three primary schools, many of which had never experienced live theater. Watching the children laugh and engage with the story from behind the scenes made me realize that art is not just about performance; it’s about connecting and fostering hope. This experience taught me how to work creatively in teams, inspire through emotional education, and appreciate the importance of spiritual growth, especially for children in less fortunate areas.

"MEALS FOR LOVE" PROGRAM

"Thanh Hoa, Vietnam"

I participated in charity activities at Thanh Hoa Province Oncology Hospital, with 16 volunteers of the group “Sharing The Life” distributing an average of 150 free porridge portions per week to cancer patients and their families. In 3 months, I directly prepared, transported and distributed more than 1,500 porridge portions, from cooking, dividing portions to chatting and encouraging the recipients. That seemingly small activity helped me understand that a hot porridge meal not only warms the stomach, but also gives hope to those fighting the disease. That experience taught me about persistent sharing – that dedication does not need to be great, just sincere and regular.
